Your job search assistant, on every job page.

Am I a good fit for this role?
Biscuit, your buddy
Elixir and Postgres, five years. They ask for four.
Kubernetes in production is not on your CV, and they want it.
Lead with the on call rotation you ran: that is what they are hiring for.
What Scout answers on a job page
One tap each, or type your own question. Answers take seconds: pay and who is hiring come from IdealJob's own data, the rest from the posting and your CV.
Am I a good fit?
Scout reads the posting and your CV and answers in sections: what matches, what is missing, and what to say about it. A role you analyzed on the web shows its score out of 100.
What does it pay?
The pay the posting states, read from the page, or IdealJob's salary data for the role and place when it states none.
Likely questions and a prep plan
The questions this company tends to ask for this role, and a plan for the days before the interview, from the posting's own wording.
Who else is hiring?
Other companies with the same role open right now, from the postings IdealJob gathers every morning.
People I know there
People at the company who share your school, a past employer or your country, with a note you can send. Premium.
Anything else, in your words
Type what you would ask a friend: "save it to my applications", "I applied", "remember I can't relocate". The same Scout as on the web, with the role in front of it.
Fill the application without retyping your CV
The Autofill tab finds the form, fills what it knows and says what is left for you. You review every field and press Submit yourself.
-
Finds the application form on the page, including the Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby forms embedded on company sites, and fills your name, contact details, links and your CV.
-
Every job and school in your CV, with dates, in forms that ask for each one, such as Workday's work experience.
-
Your answers to the questions every form asks, set once: work authorization, sponsorship, salary, notice period, relocation. Kept on your browser.
-
Multi step forms, such as LinkedIn Easy Apply and Workday, are read again at each step.
-
Draft my answers (Premium) writes the open questions and a cover letter from your CV. You check and edit every answer before anything is filled.
-
It fills at a person's pace, never overwrites what is already in a field, and never presses Submit. When the site confirms your application, the job is marked applied in your tracker.
How it works
-
1
Install it and sign in
Add the extension from the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons, click its icon, and sign in to your IdealJob account with email or Google. A free account is enough.
-
2
Open any job posting
On LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor or a company's careers page, the panel reads the role: title, company, location, pay and the posting's text.
-
3
Ask Scout, or fill the application
Tap a question or type your own and the answer arrives in seconds. On the application form, Autofill enters your details and CV; you review and submit.
Works where you look for jobs
The panel reads the job the way search engines do, so a posting on a company's own site works like one on a job board.
- job pages, the two pane job search, and Easy Apply
- Indeed
- job pages and the search results, with your scores
- Glassdoor
- job pages
- Greenhouse
- job boards and the forms embedded on company sites
- Lever
- postings and application forms
- Ashby
- postings and application forms
- Workable
- postings and application forms
- Workday
- postings and the multi step application
- SmartRecruiters
- postings and application forms
- Any careers page
- every posting that describes itself to search engines
The extension and the web app
One account, one Scout. The extension is for the job in front of you; the app is where the search and your documents live.
| Browser extension | IdealJob on the web | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it works | Next to the job page you have open | In the IdealJob app |
| Finding roles | The role on the page | Scout searches, and the Career Agent brings new matches every morning |
| Questions about a role | Fit, pay, questions, prep, who is hiring | The same, plus searches, documents and interview rooms |
| Applying | Fills the form on the page; you submit | Tracks your applications; Premium can apply from your matches |
| Your chats | Every role is a thread, kept per link | The same threads, under Roles from the extension |
What it reads, what it keeps
The short version of the privacy policy, as it applies to the extension.
Privacy policy- What it reads
- The page you have open, in your browser, to tell whether it is a job posting or an application form. When the panel is open on a job, the posting's link, title and text go to IdealJob so Scout can answer.
- What it keeps
- Your sign in, the answers you set for forms and the drafts you edit, on your browser. Your chats with Scout are on your IdealJob account, like on the web.
- Why every site
- Job postings live on any domain, so the extension asks for access to every site. It only acts on job postings and application forms.
- What it never does
- Submit a form, apply for you, send a message as you, or read pages you have not opened. Sign out ends its access on every browser.

What does the IdealJob browser extension do?
It opens Scout, IdealJob's job search assistant, next to any job posting you have open. Scout says how well you fit the role, what it pays, the questions they will likely ask and who else is hiring, and the Autofill tab fills the application form with your details and CV.
Which browsers does it work on?
Chrome and Firefox. Edge, Brave, Opera and Arc install it from the Chrome Web Store too. There is no Safari version yet.
Is the extension free?
Yes. Installing it and signing in are free. Scout in the extension has the free plan's monthly messages, the same as Scout on the web; Premium is unlimited. Basic autofill is free; Draft my answers and Tailor to this job are Premium.
Does it apply to jobs for me?
No. It fills the application form with your details, CV and saved answers, and you check every field and press Submit yourself. It never submits a form.
Which job sites does it work on?
LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, Workday, SmartRecruiters, and any company careers page whose postings describe themselves to search engines. Application forms embedded on company sites, such as Greenhouse and Lever, work too.
Does it work with LinkedIn Easy Apply and Workday?
Yes. Both are multi step forms: the panel reads the form again when the next step shows and offers to fill it.
How does Scout know whether I fit a job?
From the posting on the page and the CV on your IdealJob account. The answer comes in sections: what matches, what is missing and what to say. A role you analyzed on the web shows its score out of 100 with the reasons.
Where does the pay come from?
From the posting when it states a salary or a range. When it does not, Scout answers from IdealJob's salary data for the role and place, and says so.
Why does it ask for access to all websites?
Because job postings live on any domain. The extension reads the open page in your browser only to tell whether it is a job posting or an application form; the posting goes to IdealJob when you open the panel on it or ask Scout.
Do I need an IdealJob account?
Yes, a free one. Sign in from the panel with your email or with Google. Your CV on IdealJob is what Scout and Autofill use.
Where do my chats from the extension go?
Every role becomes a thread in Scout on the web, under a chat called Roles from the extension, with the role on the canvas. Open the arrow in the panel's header to continue there.
How do I remove it?
Remove it from your browser's extensions page. Signing out first ends its access on every browser; your CV, chats and applications stay on your IdealJob account.
Every job page, with Scout beside it.
Install it in a minute, sign in once, and the next posting you open comes with your fit, the pay and the questions to expect.
